This was a very realistic love story - maybe not specifically a cop falling for a dope boy, but a woman having a NORMAL courtship and relationship progression with a good man Mark is a sexy, urban, alpha male with a sensitive side that just makes him sexier.

Misha is the epitome of a strong professional woman If you're looking for a well written original love story with a little spice then look no further than Tatted.

It's opposites attract and both characters save each other. I love that Mark doesn't wear a suit or has the usual 9 to 5 in an office somewhere.

He's a "around the way" guy that is realistic and a good guy who made some bad choices. I loved that Mark slowly weaves himself into Misha's heart I'm sorry I waited so long to read it.

Light with serious tones. Report abuse. Well first let's start by saying that I think the IR seems has been lacking in quality fiction for the last few months so honestly I didn't have high expectations for this book.

The synopsis above sums up the story pretty well so there's really no need to rehash all of that. This was a quality book.

It was just long enough to make you feel like you got your money's worth but not too long to bore your with over-indulging detail.

The book moved at a steady clip and the character detail was spot on. If memory serves me correctly I've read one or two of Renee's books before but they must have not been noteworthy as they have been deleted from my Kindle.

Some thoughts on the actual story: For me, this plot line was a little more original than most IR books. I can honestly say I'm growing very weary of the white alpha filthy rich male swooping in to save the lowly, poorly educated, financially needy black heroine.

This books was different than that and this is a welcomed interruption to such an overused plot line! Thank you for that Renee Also I can not begin to tell you how surprised I was that the author took the last few chapters in the direction that she did.

When a health scare albeit seemingly from out of nowhere pops up towards the end I just knew she was going to glaze over it and use it for the sole intention of thickening the plot.

Renee deals earnestly with the subject matter and for a minute there I was afraid I was going to have a tragedy on my hands.

Which would have been bad because I really like my fiction to be fiction! But I'm glad the subject matter was handled the way it was and even if it was really necessary it help me to see the commitment of the lead characters.

The way in which the characters were fleshed out was pretty awesome. The development did them justice in many ways.

The only way I could see that being better is if the book would have been a little longer. The courtship between the characters moves swiftly.

Yet its not too fast to where you feel as if you've been cheated of seeing their desire grow. Their friendship blossoms and when the timing is right their relationship grows.

Very tactfully done. It renews my fading hope, because a lot of IR fiction just feels like a running porn script.

Now just two qualms and they are not really big enough to detract from the story: Firstly the heroine, Misha, starts out as the strong, no crap taking cop with a hidden fragile heart.

And she keeps this appearance for most of the blossoming courtship but as soon as she and the Hero, Mark, get intimate she just sorta turns into this needy, insecure shadow of her former self.

I can honestly let this go because Renee spends a lot of time showing the reader just how broken and insecure Misha is deep down, and also because we see a history of past hurt which is dealt with all too briefly.

Yet honestly I couldn't help but want her to remain the strong Misha we get introduced to. There's more to the heroine than meets the eye and it really is quite possible that when a woman really falls in love as madly as Misha did, these Insecurities are really just what comes with giving yourself to someone completely.

So I'll just chalk this one up to personal preference! Second qualm is the drama that happens with a very very very secondary character named Scorpio.

There's some gentle yet intentional build up to this major drama, but I thought it just fizzled and was really unnecessary to making the story flow.

Would have been nice to stretch this out more and leave it opened ended Maybe allowing a sequel to happen, instead of rushing it through. All in all, this was a quality addition to my library and I'm very impressed with Renee's writing ability.

I will buy more of her work and I will return to this one in a few months when my brain resets and I can feel as if I'm reading it for the first time again.

I think you guys will enjoy this read. AND If you buy it let's make sure we leave reviews to let these authors know that like it or hate it we appreciate what they do!

A friend of mine suggested that I checkout this book, and while I found that I did enjoy the premise, black lady cop falls for white thug, I think the execution was off a bit.

Initially I thought the author's characterization of Misha was really spot on. She was hard because of her job as a cop, but she was still very vulnerable and soft because of her father's murder, her mother's withdrawl from her as a result, and her overall bad luck with men.

Even her depiction of Mark was spot on But the author deserves kudos in that she did not allow Mark to wallow in stereotypes, he was a drug dealer and a felon, but he was three dimensional as well.

He was smart, and had an awareness of how his circumstances came to be and evolved. This was unexpected beause it is so easy to rely on a character's one dimensional outer shell instead of pulling out the textures and dichotomies that exist in real people.

I think the author had a great story idea, but to me it didn't come off as a believable in the way it was written. Mar 18, Kimberly rated it liked it Recommends it for: Fans of interracial romance.

I thought it was realistic. Caring about someone and being fearful can lead to this type of tension. I also thought the author did a good job with these two characters because they had not been together that long when this situation occurred.

A couple with more time may have handled it better with communication. I also enjoyed that he was an alpha male, but really relaxed about it.

He only asserted his dominance when he needed to. As Mark did at the skating rink. I also found it refreshing that he waited until she was ready for sex.

The cover represented the content in the book. I liked how Misha becomes a "super cop" when Mark is injured.

The chase scene was exciting and my heart was pumping right along with Misha's. I could not move passed that. Misha was raised in a law enforcement family.

Right and wrong was drilled into her. I could not see her having Mark at her home even if her reasons were noble. And Misha lives in a neighborhood with another police officer.

I find it hard to believe he would not notice Mark walking to and from Misha's home. And what would her father's best friend say about her relationship with him?

This theme was the reason I did not give this text a higher rating. I also did not like that Misha had no friends. She seemed to have no life outside of her family and Mark.

I also thought that Mark getting shot and her cancer was a bit much. I understand why the author's intent, but it was still too much.

Just one incident would have work. The whole gun analogy on page was corny. She had him around for so long even though he was not doing anything productive.

I also wanted to know why Mark walks with a limp as was stated in the end of the book. The bullets did not it any bones or nerves, so why the limp?

It was an easy read and there were not grammatical errors that showed down my reading. There also weren't a lot of questions.

I felt the author did a good job of keeping the story focused and it was the right length. Jul 24, Theodora Taylor rated it liked it. But can they navigate their extreme differences to make a relationship work?

LaRuse absolutely does. I also love that he talked too much; he felt like a real guy. This novel is both interesting and different.

The Bad: There are quite a few clumsy execution issues, including ill-advised interior thought italics, long speeches, and exact statements about how the heroine is feeling a symptom of telling not showing.

Though the relationship starts out strong and sweet, the heroine eventually proves to be extremely uneven. And though the book has a nice circular plot within it, the overall story is dragged down by additional scenes and tacked on story lines.

The Naughty: Sensual. Lots of sexual tension. Editing issues: 3 typos. Word misusage. Head hopping. Improper formatting. Adverb abuse.

POV errors. Jun 16, Nicky rated it really liked it Shelves: celibate-hero. I was really intrigued by the cover but read the blurb and that had me kind of leery.

So I read the sample and was absolutely sucked in. Such a sweetie and I loved the fact that he wanted to change for himself and for his woman.

When the author was describing his features and I read that he had neck tattoos that kind of put me off, I can deal with full sleeves but neck and facial tattoos are so unattractive to me.

I'm so glad I read o 4. I'm so glad I read on though. I loved the fact that while this had it's steamy points they actually worked for a relationship and actually went on a real date before hopping into bed.

Misha was a likeable character but towards the end she kind of had a personality transplant, luckily it wasn't for long.

Obviously I liked the Channing "visions" more but seriously I took a chance with this book and I'm glad I'm very did. Jul 19, Monique rated it it was amazing Shelves: interracial-romance.

First time reading a work by this author and I enjoyed it a lot. Full Review coming at a later date. For now, my rating is 4. Jul 09, Genney Blass rated it really liked it.

I truly enjoyed this book; It was so right and so much truth. Again, I must say it no matter how people look do not judge them by there appearances.

It was lovely how Nello loved Misha so much. This story is what happens now a day. People judge the people who come out of jail and suspect that they just going to do the same thing again so they can go back to prison.

But hey, people open your dayum eyes not everyone that gets' release from jail want to go back in. Give them a least the 4.

Give them a least the benefit of the doubt. Do judge unless you want to be judge as well. Bravo to Ms. I was in tears, smiling in how Nello remarks were so comical and how he was an alpha regardless.

Once again Bravo! Apr 05, Marie rated it it was amazing Shelves: interracial-romance , contemporary-romance. I am loving this! The pace inwhich the author sets up the characters relationship is just so normal, realistic, and relatable that when they do fall in love havent gotten there yet it will not seem rushed like a lot of romance novels tend to seem.

Mar 12, Rosa rated it really liked it. A decent story. I simply love it. Love the cover of the book too. Its gorgeous. Feb 15, Flip rated it really liked it.

What did disappoint me with these characters, particularly with Misha, was that once her and Mark got together she devolved into this needy, clingy, over reacting woman that was foreign to the woman she was prior to their hookup.

The author took her so far off character that she had her whining that he was always leaving her and flying off the handle about a makeup smudge on his clothes.

I was definitely put off by this, as I really thought Misha was a bit more level headed than those instances showed her to be. There was also a scene in the beginning where Mark first sees Misha and notes that she was fine for a dark skinned girl and couldn't remember when the last time was he saw a cute dark skinned woman.

In my mind, even if it was truly a matter of his preference or taste, given that he grew up among black people, he would not have made that kind of observation.

Apr 24, Camille rated it did not like it Shelves: interracial-romance. Great storyline until the heroine became extremely ghetto.

Upon reading the beach scene where she, a cop, performed a degree switch in personality and became an insecure, "hoodrat", "angry black woman" I gave up the fight and deleted this title from my Kindle.

It earns one star because the storyline and first half of the book are well conceived. Too bad it descended into stereotypes in a bid to cater to the lowest common denominator.

May 17, Keita rated it did not like it. I have to honest and say this book just didn't do it for me.

I don't know if its because I was expecting a better because of the reviews. I did however enjoy the premise, black lady cop falls for white thug but that is is far as its goes.

Misha originally came off as a hard because of her job as a cop, but vulnerable because of her father's murder, her mother's withdrawl and her bad luck with men.

Her depiction of Mark was a genuine, an inner city, ex-drug dealer. The author did not allow Mark t I have to honest and say this book just didn't do it for me.

The author did not allow Mark to wallow in stereotypes, he was a drug dealer and a felon, but he had potential as well.

He was smart, and was aware of how his circumstances came to be and evolved. I loved Mark's insight into society's view of criminals. One of my main problem with this book was the how the author took Misha off of her original character.

Once Misha and Mark got together she became needy and clingy. I remember the instance when at the beach she noticed makeup on his shirt she began to flying of the hook to the point he had to call his cousin to verify it was something she did.

I really lost it when Misha told Mark that "trust has to be earned not assumed". I was thinking to myself didn't you sleep with him the night before for the first time and not use a condom because HE TOLD YOU he got testd 2 weeks prior and was negative and you believed him.

This was so far from her original character. I think the author had a great story idea, but to me it didn't come off as a believable in the way it was written.
